Hong Kong China and Singapore have eight points each and will battle it out for the top spot in the group and a spot at the 2027 AFC Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
In the opening leg of the fixture played in Shillong back in March, India and Bangladesh played out a goalless draw.
However, a lot has changed since then. The Blue Tigers are under new management with Khalid Jamil taking over from Manolo Marquez.
Sunil Chhetri, India’s highest goal scorer, will also not be involved in the match with talks about the 41-year-old’s second international retirement only strengthening since Jamil took up the reins.
Chhetri is not with the Indian squad which travelled to Dhaka for the match. However, an interesting inclusion in the 23-member team is that of forward Ryan Williams.
The former Australia international, who recently obtained an Indian passport, is part of the travelling party but the forward’s inclusion in the matchday squad is subject to a NOC from Football Australia and the subsequent approvals from FIFA and AFC.
India are currently 136th in the FIFA men’s team football rankings, while Bangladesh are placed in 183rd position.
